And due to this current crisis of COVID 19, work from home has become a common practice. So most of the organizations are shifting to cloud and making their data secured. Everything you do starting from docs, sheets, calendar, requires an internet connection. But what if you don’t have an internet connection or have limited access to the internet and still need to reply to some important emails or access your docs while travelling?

No need to worry about, as G Suite comes with offline functionality as well. This means you can access your Gmail, Google Drive, and Google calendar even when you are not having any access to the internet. 

Setting up G Suite to work offline is super easy and simple. Within a few steps, you can use most of the G Suite features even when you are on the move or have limited access to the internet. In this article, I will tell you how to set up your G Suite for offline use.

Set Up your Google Chrome First

Since you all know, to access G Suite and Google drive offline you all need Google Chrome browser. So it is very important that you set it up first. But one important thing to remember is that all your data that is to be synced with your Google chrome for offline will be stored on your device. So it is a general recommendation that the device you use is your personal or trusted one to make sure your data is with you and is safe. Otherwise, anyone can access your data.

  • Enable Access: Your G Suite admin has to enable the offline access for your G Suite to access your Gmail, Google Drive, and Google calendar. The admin will give you access from the admin console dashboard. It is completely legal to do so.
  • Enable Set Up While Connected: Once you have the offline access, you can now go to Google Drive. Click on settings. A web page will pop up. From there click on the option “Sync Google Docs, Sheets, Slides & Drawings files to this computer so that you can edit offline.” Now you can access your Google docs, sheets offline.

  • Using Gmail Offline: You can also access your emails offline. With the offline availability, you can now access the emails and attachments you have sent to other mail ids or received from them as long as they are 90 days or less old. You can also use Gmail offline through your mobile application.

How to Enable Gmail for Offline Use?

To enable Gmail for your offline use kindly follow the steps below.

1. Click on the ‘Settings’ button.

2. Then tap the ‘Offline’ tab.

3. Tick on the ‘Enable Offline’ option and select your desired settings.

4. At last tap on ‘Save Settings’ > ‘Got it’.

Now you can access your emails offline, you can search and compose mails.

Using Google Calendar Offline

You can use your Google Calendar offline without any inconvenience. With offline availability, you can now view dates without the need for an internet connection. Also, now you can view your upcoming events or get reminded of special occasions as well. It is available currently for mobile apps only for IOS and Android devices. But Google is also working to bring the offline mode for Google calendar web version very soon.
