Google 2-Step Verification and Risk-based Login Challenges

Google developers ensure that the presentability of G Suite should be as a service, enriched with account security measures to significantly protect users' accounts from malicious attacks. In this article, we would analyze some security measures available in G Suite.

2-step Verification and risk-based login challenges are two important and strong account security features available in G Suite where admin can enable these two amenities to enhance the account security from several attacks. These are very useful for those admins who are using third-party identity providers.

2 step verification is an authentication process where two methods are performed one after another in sequence. It provides double security to identify the request for access. Risk-based login challenges are made to analyze the users' pattern of access and decide the risk of suspicious access requests. If any suspicious activity gets detected it provides extra verification challenges as a preventive measure.

You can utilize these features to increase overall account security from unauthorized access, by enforcing 2-step verification for the users from the admin's end. This feature would be disabled by default and can be activated on several organizational units. All the G Suite editions have this facility. To enforce 2-step verification, Admin can follow the below steps :

Admin Console >> Security >> Login challenges >> Post-SSO verification.

The users must access correctly in 2-Step verification from a user-friendly Google sign-in interface even after they sign in to their third-party identity provider.

Altogether these facilities help to provide account security from unauthorized and malicious access requests. This is one of the prime reasons for making G Suite the most secure professional email service.
