Gmail Introduces One-Swipe Gesture to Switch Accounts on Android OS
This very useful fast-switching feature has been available on iOS since May, however, Google took so long to add it to its own OS.

Gmail's latest update makes it easy for users to switch accounts in Android. The feature has already arrived for IOS users previously, and now the update has arrived for Android users as well. All you have to do is swipe up or down on your profile picture in the top right to switch between multiple accounts. This functionality comes with Gmail version 2019.08.18 and is only helpful for users with multiple email accounts linked to their application. The release reportedly contains the Dark Mode as well.
The update is eventually rolling out slowly on Google Play Store. To reiterate, users can now switch between multiple email accounts by just swiping up or down on the Display picture placed on the top right of the screen. This helps in quick manoeuvre between inboxes, but to load the full account interface, users will still need to tap on the left menu and open it up.
As mentioned, this feature has already been rolled out to iOS users in May, and now it has been implemented on Android. As per reports, the first traces of the dark mode in Gmail can be seen in this latest version.
The widget, as well as the splash screen, have the dark variation to match with the system theme on Android Q, hinting that it is indeed bringing the feature to the stable version soon. If you haven't received the latest Gmail update as of yet, you can now download the APK File.
If this report sounds familiar, then it’s because Google has been rapidly adding the feature to its lineup of Android apps including, Maps, Drive and Contacts. However, it’s a much more useful update in the Gmail app, because so many people access both their Personal and Work emails on a single phone and need to flip between their two inboxes quickly.
Incredibly convenient, this UI Dark element helps make the always-present avatar that identifies what account you are using even more useful. A similar, but swipe up-down action was available in the old navigation drawer account switcher, but the Material Theme equivalent is much more prevalent.
