Connecting Gmail with Client Applications
G Suite facilitates to use your account through client applications. G Suite always provides one or the other solutions ready to make work smoother. App specific password is one of them... it generates a system dependent password to connect IDs with clients.
G Suite being very stringent in its privacy policies, by default it stops a user from configuring email IDs in mail client applications. This feature stands just to reduce spamming and spoofing issues which occur globally.
There are a few layers of security which you need to tackle to connect with client apps:
1. Basic step to connect Gmail with Client Applications is to Enforce Less Secure Apps.
Security > Basic Settings > Less Secure Apps > Enforce > Save
2. Enroll 2-Step Verification
Accounts > Sign-in & Security > 2-Step Verification.
3.Generate App Specific Password

Accounts > Sign-in & Security > App Password.

Select the app and device you want to generate the app password for.

For App -- Gmail

For Device -- The Device where you want to configure

Click “Generate”
After this a code will be generated like the below image :
Now, this code needs to be used in place of a password to run the client application.
