Google Duplex : A Smart Way of Interaction with Google Assistant
Google Duplex uses Artificial Intelligence to complete the process assigned to it. Google Assistant gives us the privilege to do so.
The invention of Robot science filled people’s imagination to have a robot which can do all the work on their behalf. It started from the household works like flooring, laundry, cooking etc. Basically, people expected to have a physical robot, who can do all the things in the way they are instructed.
Somehow, these expectations spread to the business also. On their part, they wish to have someone who can handle some of the business matters on their behalf.
But when talking of a machine taking care of your works, it needs to have intelligence in order to make the decisions. Like the whole day, you can not sit in front and instruct word to word. Then what is the use of having somebody else? And apart from it, to have a physical robot programmed only for one’s requirements is going to be a really expensive affair.

Google Duplex is the new feature of the assistant that can carry out specific tasks on your behalf through your phone. As of now, Google assistant was surfing on our behalf, like playing songs, giving weather forecasts, giving information on different topics, searching for restaurants, shops etc for us.
But now with the added feature, you can book restaurants, fix meetings, fix appointments with a doctor etc. These things are intended to fulfill the personal need of a person, a step to the future. But apart from this, it can be a useful tool for the business organizations also.
If we talk about the technical details of this feature, at the centre of Google Duplex is a recurrent neural network which is built using TFX. TFX ( TensorFlow Extend) is basically a general- purpose machine learning platform implemented at Google. It works on four stages:
Many one of us has come across to a virtual addressing telephonic machine while calling out to fix meetings. Like, When calling on the board line number of a hospital to fix an appointment - “ Hello, Welcome to XYZ Hospital, Press 1 for enquiry, Press 2 for an appointment,” …and then you press 2 and then “ Wait for the operator “. And you need to wait for hours for doing so. Seems like a punishment when you are in an emergency.
Now with the Google Duplex feature, a virtual assistant will be there on the other hand who will not be giving instructions but will speak with you like a normal human being and make the task easy. And it can also be implemented from your end like your assistant will be speaking to another assistant to fix the appointment. The most interesting part is you don’t communicate with a machinery tone. It will seem like a human on the other side, as it uses the same natural tones and phrases like “mmm” and “uhh”.
