Insert Images in Google Sheet More Easily in Less Time

Google has implemented a feature to add or insert images into the cells of a Google Sheet.

Earlier, we could insert the publicly hosted images through the image function.

Now we can insert the images saved in our desktop or mobile by using the image function or we can use the option available in the insert menu-> image. You can drag and drop the image from your desktop or you can upload the image as well.

The Feature Uses:

  • Adding receipts to expense-tracking spreadsheets

  • Adding icons to icon libraries

  • Adding logos to better brand your resources

  • Adding product images to inventory lists, and more.

How to use:

For desktop: Go to Google sheets.

  • You can use the image() function in the Fx bar.

  • Or you can Go to insert option-> Image->image-> image in cell

  • Select the images from the drive or desktop or drag and drop.

For Mobile:

  • Click once on a cell to select

  • Click again to bring up menu: Insert > Tap the “+” at the top of the screen > Image > Image in cell.

  • Select an image from the options.

FAQ:

  1. One image is allowed for one cell currently.

  2. Images in cells are related to the data as well as rows. If you move rows, filter or sort them, the images will move with the content in the row.

  3. By default, images will show in the bottom left corner of the particular cell but you can change it from the “Formatting and Alignment Tools” option.
