New Updates in Google Chat
Google chat is basically an application where we can chat, make video calls & even we can schedule a meeting through calendar invitation.
Google Chat is basically an application where we can chat with our colleagues. We can also make video calls through Google Chat. We can now pin a direct message or a room in Google Chat. This keeps the conversation at the top of the list view in Chat in Gmail. Pinned conversations make it quick and easy to find and can be accessed from the left-hand navigation menu.
Pinning a conversation will make the chat visible on the top of the Chat list in return it will help users keep track of important updates. By clicking on the Icon a red dot will appear next to pinned conversations with unread messages on integrated Gmail. If you want to pin a conversation, then you need to navigate the desired conversation under Chat or Rooms, then click on More > Pin. Similarly to unpin a conversation, follow the same steps and click on Unpin.
We need to click on the pin option so that the contact will show under the pinned section and it will get separated from the other contacts.
Google Calendar events can scheduled from Google Chat
Google Calendar is basically used for events and meetings through which you will get to know the timing, location of the event, participant list, etc. You will get event notification on your email. A new update will now enable users to schedule meetings in Calendar directly from Chat conversations. You will see a new icon in the conversation compose bar. On clicking the icon it will start a draft calendar event with the attendees from the chat. Then you would be able to customize the invite (including attendees) before sending it to guests.
Currently this feature is being rolled out to Chat in the Android mobile app and will begin rolling out to the Chat on the web in Gmail as well as Chat iOS app in the coming weeks.
