Over quota and staying inactive for a long period:

If you have been over quota or stay inactive for more than 2 years, Google will remove all the content from the Google products you have. But before doing that Google will send you the notice via email and notifications in respective e Google products. Also will communicate to you prior to three months of deletion. You can avoid this by purchasing additional storage or removing files or becoming active in the product.

Reason behind the changes:

Google is about to make these changes on its storage to provide its users a great experience. The tech leader said that nowadays people are adding more content than ever before. In fact more than 4.3 million GB are uploaded across Google drive, photos and Gmail everyday and so these changes are essential to stay alive with the growing demand.

Availability:

These new policies will be applicable to all users with Google workspace and G suite licenses. Google also announced that each and every domain admins will get a notification via email prior to the changes taking effect.
