Microsoft Loop
This article introduces Microsoft Loop, a productivity tool that allows users to collaborate and organize work across various applications and devices. It combines a flexible canvas with portable components that stay synchronized across platforms, enabling teams to think, plan, and create together.

We use various Microsoft 365 applications for collaboration, including document sharing and OneNote. Currently, task tracking is inconsistent, with some users utilizing Outlook, while others prefer OneNote or Teams. This variety in application use can lead to fragmented task and information management, which can be challenging in the context of rapidly evolving collaborative projects.
Microsoft Loop is a collaborative workspace within the MS 365 ecosoytem that enhances teamwork and streamlines workflows. It integrates with apps like Teams, Outlook, and OneNote, allowing users to create and share synchronized Loop components. Understanding its usage requires knowing its three parts.—such as lists, tables, and notes—that stay synchronized across platforms.
There are three elements to Loop, which are currently supported in Teams, Outlook, Word for the web, and Whiteboard as listed below:
- Loop Components
- Loop Pages
- Loop Workspaces
Loop Components
Loop components are movable blocks with updated information. They can be shared across Loop pages, chats, emails, meetings, and documents. These components can look like as task lists, tables, notes, progress trackers, and more.
To create one, simply click "Create Loop component" in Microsoft Teams or Outlook.
Loop pages
Loop pages are like mobile app offer flexible canvases for collaboration. You can centralize components, links, tasks, and data, allowing them to evolve with your needs. Sharing is easy via links or embedded components across MS 365 apps.
Within Loop pages, following actions can be performed by typing the specified characters:
- Typing "/" will allow user to view the various content types available for insertion.
- Typing "@" will enable user to mention individuals or create a link to a file.
- Typing ":" will open the emoji picker for user.
Loop workspaces
Microsoft Loop workspaces serve as central virtual hubs for teams. These shared spaces help track work, monitor progress, and maintain focus on common objectives that every members are working.

Microsoft Loop offers real-time co-authoring functionality, which allows multiple users to collaborate on a document or project at the same time. It intends to improve productivity and communication by providing a setting where changes are instantly visible to all collaborators.
