Gopher for G Suite Users

Gopher is an addon service in Chrome browser for Google Sheet. By using Gopher you can change the users’ password, user properties and attributes, domain group update and create users in bulk.

Gopher for G Suite Users

We have seen the requirement of updating the user properties and attributes like organization name, Employee type, Employee ID, phone numbers, resetting the password, etc in bulk. One method is to download the user list from the admin console and make changes, then upload it again. But this process needs the mandatory fields to be there in the list, like first name, last name, email address and password. We found that this process fails in case we do not change the password or update the password. Hence updating the properties of users manually is a better choice.

Gopher gives you the facility to update particular fields individually in bulk.

Let's discuss about the Gopher setup and working.

Gopher is available as an addon in chrome browser extension and can easily install. (Note that It is subject to be purchased, as the trial version gives you only 5 bulk actions to be done)

You can go directly to the page of Gopher in chrome webstore by clicking the following link:

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/gopher-for-users/oagbpekogjflgfifjefppohjgiamgkli?authuser=0

When the installation or addon is done, download the users from the admin console with all the properties included. Then click in the addon button and launch the Gopher sidebar.

Once done, click on the “Load to Sheet” on the Gopher sidebar.

You will find that another sheet with custom properties will open.

Then click on Bulk User actions on the Gopher sidebar. You will see multiple options are there.

Now make whatever changes you want to in the sheet.

Then click on the Update properties and attributes option in Gopher bar.

For example, I will change the Employee ID. See there is no employee ID mentioned in the sheet.

Now I have created Employee ID for 10 Users.

Now Click on Update properties and attributes in Gopher.

Scroll down and click on next

Again Click on next:

Then Click on “ Preview”

The new window will appear and then click on “Run Bulk Action”

For how many users you have made the changes, will be displayed. Click on done

Click on done on Gopher also

Now you will see that the changes are also reflecting on the Google admin console

*** Note that Gopher free version or trial will allow you 5 bulk user updates after that you need to purchase it***.
