Displaying Sender Attribution for Shared Mailboxes
This feature allows the user’s to control how and what information about his email ID and the name he wanted to show to his recipients.
Display of Sender attribution for shared mailboxes - A new control added in G-Suite. Currently, sender attribution is enabled by default for the admin or the end user and will remain so unless altered.
For end users, there’s a new setting in Gmail where users can specify what information is included in the email header of messages sent by delegates.
For admins, there’s a new setting in the admin console that allows them to hide all attribution for shared mailboxes in their domain or organizational unit (OU). This overrides and disables the user setting in Gmail.
Getting started
Admins: Sender attribution is kept ON by default and can be disabled at the OU or domain level as per requirement. The below step guides for the same :
Apps ->G Suite -> Gmail -> User settings -> Mail Delegation.
Settings for Mail Delegation in the Admin console
Note the default settings as - “Allow users to customize this setting” and “Show the account owner and delegate who sent the email.
End users: Sender attribution is ON by default. Users can view and set sender attribution parameters by going to Settings > Account > Grant access to your account in Gmail.
End user settings for sender attribution in Gmail
Note that if the admin has hidden sender attribution for your domain or OU, no action can be taken.
