Search Chips to Help Users Find Specific Emails in G Suite

G Suite is the most powerful communication and collaboration platform for businesses, with a plethora of  Google applications such as Hangout, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slide, and Gmail.

In this article, I am focusing on Gmail Search Chips.

To open your Gmail (admin) in any browser go to the >Admin.google.com

>> Starting from the sign-in page, enter the email address and password to access your account.

Basic URL: https://www.gmail.com

Once the Gmail gets open it can be accessible for working purposes.

Gmail’s search is getting a significant update that will allow users to more easily narrow results to help them find a specific email. Previously users could type in search filters manually (such as label: work, has: attachment) or use the drop-down box to perform an advanced search. But these options were less obvious, cumbersome, and therefore under-utilized by many Gmail users. With the upgraded version of Gmail search, new filters — which Google calls “search chips” — will appear directly below the search box for simple, one-click access.

In previous mail, search options are not flexible compared to new Gmail searches.

To search the email you just need to enter the details in the search bar, but previously it would take time to find out the particular mail.

Google’s Gmail has rolled out a new feature called “Search Chips” to help users find specific emails within a crowded inbox.

Google mentioned in its G Suite app blog that searching in Gmail could be “faster and more intuitive.”

Users can search a colleague’s name, for instance, and can further narrow down the results by selecting search chips like attachment type (text document, spreadsheet, PDF) or a specific timeframe. Users can also filter out certain results like calendar invites.

Here I am adding some screenshots which will help to understand the search results.

This feature is available by default. When searching in Gmail, users can further refine their search by clicking on the search filter chips below the search box.

Previously, users could look for specific emails by creating a filter. The filter could be created by clicking the arrow to the right of the search bar and setting the required criteria.

It can be searched as employee name >>exclude chat>>time periods >>attachment >>exclude calendar update and advance search.

Note: There is no admin control for this feature. It is available in Gmail by default for each and every end-user.
